How do I cancel a signed creator contract, and how is the amount refunded?

How to cancel a signed contract and how the amount is credited back.

Written by Ruben Pijnenburg

To cancel a signed creator contract, contact us via the chat with the campaign and the creator name. We record a reason for every cancellation, so let us know why, for example the product was not received or the creator cannot complete the campaign.

Cancelling a signed contract is permanent. It removes the creator social posts and chat, deletes the contract documents, and the creator can no longer apply to that campaign. The cancelled contract stays visible in your overview with a Cancelled status.

How the money works:

  • You are charged when a creator signs. A cancellation creates a credit against that charge, and the amount is credited back to you on your next invoice.

  • Cancellation can be partial. If a creator delivered one social post and not another, we cancel the part that was not delivered and credit that share to your account.

  • Content that is already posted is paid in full. Work a creator has genuinely completed against the brief is compensated too, even if you end the contract.

  • Need the credit note itself for your finance team? Ask us via the chat and we will send it.

If a product was already shipped, you decide whether to ask the creator to return it or to let them keep it.

Before you cancel over a revision dispute: a creator is contractually required to align their content with the campaign brief, so anything specified in the brief is fair to ask for and to hold them to. Feedback that goes beyond the brief is different. A creator can decline that, or ask for extra compensation for the extra work, and both are within their rights. This is why specificity in the brief pays off. See What belongs in a strong campaign brief and Writing feedback that works.

For a creator who accepted but has not signed yet, you do not need to do anything: unsigned contracts are followed up automatically and cancelled if they stay unsigned after the reminder window. See What happens if a creator does not sign the contract.
